The Russian midfielder has admitted that he was getting tired of the bench role at the Moscow-based club and has hailed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello’s appointment as Russia’s boss
Mordovia Saransk midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Evgeni-Aldonin-c13028, has revealed the reasons that forced him to leave CSKA Moscow earlier this month.
The 32-year-old, who established himself as one of the best Russian midfielders after joining the Moscow-based club from Rotor Volgograd in 2004, has broken his silence to tell that he changed his club because he wants more first
team football.
Though the newly promoted Russian outfit has a couple of decent midfielders, Aldonin still believes that he can get more playing time as compared to the time he has had at his previous club.
“Mordovia is a new challenge for me, a new stage in my career. I decided to move on when I was told that I might get less playing time. So, I switched my club because I do not want to polish the bench.”
“When I heard that Mordovia are interested in signing me, the first reaction was a shock. But I did not have a large number of options. So, I decided to go to a club that had never played in the elite league.”
“Mordovia is an interesting option. I want to be helpful, I want to play and win with my new team. I can be useful for the team” The UEFA Super Cup winner was quoted as saying.
The UEFA Cup winner went onto assure the fans of his fitness despite his growing age, insisting that he is in best shape at the moment, and is ready to help the newly promoted side in the ongoing Russian Premier League campaign.
News in Russian media suggests that the prolific midfielder is set to quit football after he was snubbed by d**k Advocaat at Euro 2012. However, Aldonin has shrugged off the rumours of his early retirement, telling that he is yet
to decide about his retirement.
Commenting on Fabio Capello’s appointment as the Russian national football team coach, Aldonin has wished the Italian tactician best of luck. Capello has taken over the helm after Advocaat’s resignation after the European tournament.
