Evgeniya Kosetskaya treads into second stage of qualifying round - Macau Open Update
Russia’s budding shuttler Evgeniya Kosetskaya had a perfect start of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold as she overpowered Ching Chieh Tai in the opening match on November 27, 2012.
She wrapped this showdown in just two games by registering a favourable result of 21-18 and 21-16.
This win took her into second stage of Women's Singles qualifying round where she will lock horns with the Chinese player Deng Xuan to gain access to the main round.
The Russian campaigner made her intentions clear straight away in the beginning of first set and confounded her rival with an unbeatable strategy.
She laid the foundation of her dominance by prevailing in five rallies without any interruption and then strengthened her grip with 8-1 total.
Evgeniya showed consistency in her performance and kept her competitor at the lower end in next couple of rallies.
She bagged valuable points at steady pace and doubled her lead by putting 11-7 score on the board.
This deficit proved too much for Ching Chieh as she could not lift this burden and knelt down in later part of the game.
The Taipei shuttler looked completely confused as she dropped many vital points in a row and allowed her challenger to proceed on the points table.
Evgeniya did not squander this opportunity and got into commanding position with 17-13 margin. She played with authoritative approach and registered a winning figure of 21-18.
The following game, which proved decider later, remained interesting until third quarter of the set as the Russian female shuttler ruled the court and cast out her opponent with a staggering knock.
In the beginning, both contenders challenged each other in all areas of the game. They snapped at each other’s heels and stayed close until half time.
However, Ching Chieh managed to gain a decent advantage before the mid-game break as she placed 11-9 margin.
After the interval, she could not go with the same flow and allowed the opposing shuttler to counter-balance the situation.
Evgeniya unleashed a series of well placed strokes and reinstated her supremacy. She pocketed six out of ending seven points and sealed her victory with 21-16 score.
