Evgeny Lovchev warns Zenit St. Petersburg to sign Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771 – Football news
Evgeny Lovchev has warned Zenit St. Petersburg to think twice before signing Andrei Arshavin from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC during the summer transfer window despite of the fact that the 32-year-old will not cost them a penny.
“Arshavin is a good player. But I don't think he can play even close to that level now,” the Soviet Top League winner was quoted as saying.
Lovchev told http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti, the Russian outfit’s head coach, that the out-of-form and injury prone attacker will be an unnecessary addition to the squad. He stressed that Arshavin is not likely to rediscover his old form in the near future.
Speaking on his client’s possible move, Scott Fisher said, “We have a few options at the moment. Andrew himself is on vacation. So, we will discuss the whole situation at the end of the week. Arshavin is still very ambitious. He's a great player who is ready
to play.”
Arshavin, who built a reputation of a decent striker during his days at the St. Petersburg club, failed to meet his expectations after making a big move to the Emirates stadium four years ago.
The Russian International moved to the London-based club from Zenit for reportedly 20 million Euros. Though Arshavin impressed during his first season at Arsenal, he remained on the sidelines after sustaining different injuries in the following years.
Arsene Wenger, who sent Arshavin back to Zenit on a six-month loan spell in order to boost the player’s confidence, has decided not to extend his current contract which will expire at the end of this month.
News in Russian media suggests that Arshavin, who will be a free agent on June 30, may return to Petrovsky stadium this summer.
According to a source close to the player, the St. Petersburg club had already entered into negotiations with the 32-year-old winger-c*m-forward, who has already expressed a desire to join the blue-white-blue as early as possible.
If speculations are to be believed, Reading FC, Fulham FC and Queen Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 are also interested in signing the Russian forward given that they can sign Arshavin on a free transfer.
