Evian Masters 2012: Inbee Park ties for third in second round
South Korean Inbee Park posted an impressive 64 in the second round of the Evian Masters 2012 to tie for the third spot on the leaderboard.
Park, who is one of the key players in the Evian Masters 2012 roster, appeared to be in a stunning form on Friday at Evian-les-Bains, France. The South Korean star did not give too many chances to her rivals
to subdue her as she was determined to move up on the leaderboard.
Park launched solid strokes on most of the holes and kept piling up score to consolidate her position on the leaderboard.
Park recorded her first victory — a major one — at the US Women’s Open in June 2008, and has been seeking to add another victory to her profile since.
Analysts said that the South Korean prodigy can pose a serious challenge to American Stacy Lewis who is standing firm on her number one position on the leaderboard after she shot a 69 in the second round.
American Paula Creamer came out as one of the star performers in the second round of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament, as she improved her position after posting a 67. Creamer is sharing
the third position with Park.
Park’s performance was nothing short of amazing in the second round, as she reeled off a series of birdies, offsetting lapses she made in the previous round. She parred the frost two holes, and launched three
straight birdies on the third, fourth and fifth hole.
The 24-year-old star did not stop inflicting misery on her rivals, as she scored her fourth birdie on the 7th hole and four more birdies on the back nine. Overall, she carded eight birdies — something
that helped her strengthen position on the leaderboard.
Sharing her thoughts at the end of the round, Park said that she could not display a better performance in the first round, as she made many mistakes. “It was the par‑5s that cost me yesterday because I have
made three bogeys on the par‑5s yesterday. Well, I was going for it, and most of the time it gave me a lot of trouble,” the LPGA titan said.
She said that she came up with a different plan on the second day, and did fine. “I tried to play a little bit more conservatively today on the par‑5s, and that really worked out well”.
