Evian Masters 2012 roster packed with South Korean contenders
The Evian Masters 2012 is going to start from July 26-29, at Evian-les-Bains, France, with a roster packed with South Korean LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars.
According to the details, the Evian Masters, one of the most prestigious tournaments on the LPGA Tour, will be featuring 30 South Koreans — something analysts said is sure to make the event tougher and livelier.
Officials said that the final field has been confirmed, which will see most of the top-ranked LPGA contenders grace the Evian Masters 2012. Top nine players in the Women’s World Golf Rankings will be exhibiting their performance this week, whereas Asian
players have outnumbered their rivals this year.
Some of the key players confirmed for the field include current world number one Yani Tseng, Ai Miyazato, Suzann Pettersen, Cristie Kerr, Azahara Munoz, Catriona Matthew, Laura Davies, Karen Stupples, Christel Boeljon, Maria Hjorth, Sandra Gal, Caroline
Hedwall, Mika Miyazato, Brittany Lincicome, Paula Creamer, Sun Young Yoo, Angela Stanford and Sophie Gustafson.
Despite a fearsome field, much of the attention will remain on South Korean contenders. The most prominent contender from South Korea is Na Yeon Choi, who won her first major championship at the US Women’s Open 2012.
Other key players include Amy Yang, who currently ranks seventh in the Women’s World Golf Rankings. Yang is a rising star on the LPGA Tour and her presence means that Asian players are going to trouble their American and European rivals.
Although the 22-year-old South Korean has not been able to record an LPGA victory so far, she is determined to do her best in France this year.
Another South Korean star desperate to prove her worth is I.K. Kim. Kim is a strong contender and has been performing well on the Tour since she turned professional in 2006. Kim currently ranks 11th in the Women’s World Golf Rankings and looks
all set to further move up by recording a good performance.
Sun Young Yoo, who has emerged as a rising South Korean player recently, will likely remain the spotlight as she has been doing well on the LPGA. Yoo boasts a stunning profile, as she won her first major title at the Kraft Nabisco Championship 2012.
