Eviction notice not received?

Question

Long story short, I left a house I was renting because my life was in danger. Landlord got a unlawful detainer, I never received notice of court hearing, and therefore missed my court date. I left in Jan, and just found out in July. I'm having issues getting a lawyer to respond without calling me a deadbeat. What action can I take, so I can submit my evidence?

They are only required to make a reasonable attempt to serve you. It is your responsibility to keep your landlord informed.
