Is there really proof of Global Cooling or are they still trying to find the proof? I heard of this around my community and i was just wondering.

If they have found proof could you please tell me?

Thank You!

  1. The cooling is real, and it is predictable.

  2. According to the latest information released recently by leading German scientists, they have proof that the planet has actually been cooling for at least ten years.

  3. Yes - Since 1998 the Earth has been cooling at the same rate that it was warming, 0.05 degs/year.

This cooling is occurring even as co2 levels continue to increase proving that there is no link between co2 levels and global temperatures.

The Sun has slowed in activity as fewer sunspots have been recorded this year proving the link between Solar Activity and the Earths climate temperatures.

  4. So make up your mind , scientist s  .Are we going to freeze to death or burn up?

  5. The big global cooling speculation happens when certain temperature and salinity changes in the north Atlantic cause the warm water currents running from the Carribbean to Europe to cease, changing most of Europe from the climate of Virginia to the climate of Alberta.

  6. One of the weakest links in the denier argument they will talk about how it has cooled since 98' to the present and this is true if you ignore a couple of things 98' was the warmest year in the last century the 2 decades leading up to 98' warmed a lot more than the so called drop that happen since. The record of the last ~120 years show the warming trend and a number of cooling periods as well each of these finished and warming continued. I would be the first to cheer if all the scientists were wrong, but the only way you could say the Earth is cooling would be if the downward trend continued for as long as the warming has ~30 years, I doubt it very much.

People like jello spout their nonsense, like in this question about sunspot minimum and either don't know or forget that the same warm 98' they are talking about was just 1 year into the last cycle i.e. few sunspots, but still warm.

  7. Global Waming

  8. No.

Temperature is dependent on two things these days.  Global warming and short term weather.  The weather has been a little cool lately, but that doesn't change anything.

It happened in 1982, 1991-1992, 1999-2000.  EVERY TIME global warming came back stronger than ever.  Proof.

Jello's graph shows the same thing, although it omits the average (the red line on the NASA graph) which makes things harder to understand.  The jagged jumps up and down are weather, but the graph is increasing right to left, over the long term.

As long as we keep making greenhouse gases in enormous amounts, global warming will dominate in the long run.  It's simple physics.

  9. You want proof of global cooling look at the ice caps..

  10. ya a ice berg tha size of florida melted not too long ago

  11. nope, warming.

"Rising temperatures are leading to a shortening of ice road transport seasons and the melting ice roads are creating transportation challenges. The opening dates for tundra roads in northern Alaska has shifted two months later from early November (pre-1991) to January (recent years), dramatically decreasing the potential work period during which ice roads can be used for transportation."

note that, in general, it gets shorter every year, through 2005, long after the "it's been cooling since 1998" year.
