Evidently evolution is not valid?

I was never an atheist, but I truly believed in evolution, till 2 days ago. does anyone have any info on substantial fossil evidence of intermediate species?

I guess Richard Dawkins is todays spokes person on evolution....so far I've not been impressed. I haven't found any remarks from him about the tons of fossils we have that do not include any intermediate species.

your thoughts?

  1. Well other than the fact that there are intermediate fossils, you'd have a good point.

You've never seen 'em?  Perhaps a bit more research on your part is needed.

  2. Evidently you have never taken a biology class.

There are THOUSANDS of fossils in the fossil record.  Each species represents an intermediate species - we can see them change over time.  There are fish with lungs and whales with limbs, for example.

Richard Dawkins IS famous, but he's hardly the only evolutionary biologist out there.  ALL science backs evolution.

  3. You know, only people from the USA think that evolution is a debatable "theory" or that you have to believe in it in order to become real.

    It is not like Christmas.

Ok, let´s start a discussion, I think gravity is not real, actually objects have a desire to go down and this is what makes them do so.

  4. If you keep up this rationale one day someone would consider you the intermediate species

  5. Most fossils are intermediate between older and newer fossils and a vast number of them are very well documented.  It is not a reasonable objection.

  6. There are a few hundred on here:

  7. Chuckle... as an atheist, only a Creationist can make me say, OH GOD, HOW STUPID CAN YOU GET?

  8. There are intermediate species. Monkeys walking up straight, lizards with feathers, fish with legs.

Not to mention anatomical, geographical and DNA evidence.

The abundance of "missing links" is a direct consequence of how many pieces of the chain we already found, despite digging up less than 1% of earth.

If you want to discuss creationism, go to Society & Culture >> Religion & Science.

  9. First, considering how many critters have lived, very, very, very, very few become fossils. And fewer of them have been found.

It's not as though we have 20% of all past critters -- it's a teeny tiny amount. Less than a millionth of a percent -- much less.

We DO have fossils of "intermediate" critters.

Whoever told you we don't was lying to you, or was deeply confused.

What happens is, when intermediate fossils are found, the anti-evolution crowd then demands intermediate fossils between all intermediates already found.

It's never ending, as those people simply won't accept evidence.

We do, in fact, have a lot of transitional fossils.

Most critters die without leaving a trace; unnusual things have to happen to preserve any of them.

Then there's the fact that we haven't dug up every inch of ground, but only bits here and there -- and not most of the surface of the planet, which is under the oceans.

It's not as though our collection of fossils is complete -- how could it be?

Richard Dawkins is NOT a paleontologist, but a microbiologist -- not a fossil buy, a gene guy.

He is well-versed in evolutionary theory, but then, most scientists are. They kinda have to be because it's such an important scientific idea. Thus, all paleontologists, geologists, and biologists, understand evolution.

Dawkins is not THE spokesperson, he's just one of them.

He's well known for some books on the topic, written for the lay reader (rather than for scientists -- most scientists write papers and books addressed to other scientists, not addressed to just folks), and for books debunking belief in god.

He's not the only one, he's just better known than most, and very vocal.

Belief in god and acceptance of evolution are two distinct issues, by the way. Most people who believe in god also accept evolutionary theory.

I don't know how many paleontologists, geneticists, and other scientists of all stripes there are in the world, but the vast, overwhelming majority accept that evolution happened.

There's just a few fruitcakes, who aren't taken seriously by scientists, who deny evolution.

The evidence for evolution is overwhelming, and comes from a number of different sources.

    is a good starting place.

    is another site.

What happened to you 2 days ago that made you suddenly stop accepting evolutionary theory?

I suspect you've never really understood evolutionary theory or the evidence for evolution -- given your question. If you had, you wouldn't ask what you did the way you did.

Before dismissing it, you might want to try understaning it better.

  10. Atheism and evolution have nothing to do with each other, there are some books by atheists that don't support evolution

  11. They are intermediate species... I even got in my collection a snake with legs... He is now on exhibit in a new museum in Germany... He was originated from Gansu province in the GuangHe (not sure spelling) plateau...

Also, they are new evidences that point out that not all specie did have transitional ones... Some have jumped, this phenomenon is yet to be explained, but still...
