Evil thrives off of secrecy but as soon as you expose the enemy you start to dispel the superstitions about it?

  1. If that is your thought about evil, then you seem to have the mistaken idea that it is a "something" that comes calling; or perhaps a "something" can infect your thinking.

I'm not religious, but sometimes a biblical answer suits the question.

The Gospel According to Mary Magdalene

"4:25) Peter said to him, Since you have explained everything to us, tell us this also: What is the sin of the world?

4:26) The Savior said There is no sin, but it is you who make sin when you do the things that are like the nature of adultery, which is called sin."

Sin is as sin DOES, not as sin comes a calling.

  2. People have been complaining about secrecy in The Catholic Church for the longest time. Apparently, the Vatican can't live without it.

  3. Personally, I think it's way more complex than that. Yeah, some bad things in the world are hidden, but some are just accepted purely because it's easier for people to look the other way and not do anything about it. Sometimes a person's culture makes them oblivious to what's staring them right in the face. Sometimes the evil that is hidden on the other side is on our own side as well. Of course, some evil is relative, as is good.

  4. Not necessarily. Some evil such as pride, revenge, etc. thrive off of attention.

  5. ...good thing about evil...next day its a good guy...

  6. i don't think there is nothing superstitous about people who kill rape and maim and prey on society as a whole. evil is evil no mattter how you look at it.

  7. G That is the view of rock and tree worshipers. Cosmopolitan people with any education understand that evil is the same as good described from a different perspective. Sometimes the perspective is from people who cannot be allow to cohabit the same space as civil people, but it is still another perspective. Very few people have the same response to any single situation. Much of the argument comes about because of the effects of perceiving situations from a different perspective and not understanding that large changes in outcomes often arise from small changes in perspective.

  8. Secrecy can certainly cause a lot of confusion from inexplicable action, but so much right understanding needs competency of all human possibility. On that reflection I say yes, that confusion certainly serves a cloak for camouflage and offers the possibility for false accusation to be taken as true. Evil is a tricked humanity in its self, its roots are found in mistrust, distrust, preemptive ruthlessness and social skepticism. Superstition has more than one notion and some may be believed and others not, e.g. a tyrant may not believe as his or her subjects and yet believe superstitiously.

At every stage of life something can go wrong: sensory distortion -- withdrawal, impulsivity -- compulsion, ruthlessness -- inhibition, narrow virtuosity -- inertia, fanaticism -- repudiation, promiscuity -- exclusivity, overextension -- rejectivity, presumption -- despair
