  1. Theory based on facts.

  2. My opinion is that the people who believe evolution is some big lie don't even know what it is.

  3. i think we should disragaurd this beacause darwins books tell us to

  4. Both fact AND theory.   (I agree with armillary's answer.)

Depends on which meaning of the word "evolution" you are using.

If you are referring to the *process* of evolution, then this is undeniably a *fact*.  The *process* of evolution refers to how species can be seen to change over time (over generations).   It is undeniably a fact because we can see it in nature, measure it, duplicate it in the lab, and in fact have been relying on the process of evolution to cause long-term changes in a species for as long as we've been breeding cows, goats, racehorses, roses, or shetland sheepdogs.

If you are referring to the *theory* of evolution, then this is (obviously) a theory ... but a theory in the *scientific* sense of the word, which means "explanation with evidence" (as in the theory of gravity, or the atomic theory of matter) not "uncertain guess" (as in "I have a theory where I lost my keys".)  The theory of evolution explains the *process* of evolution (the fact).

Within the *SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY* there are NOT "so many opinions on this."

The SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY is absolutely united in its support of evolution as not only one of the strongest theories in the history of science, but the cornerstone of modern biology.

It is not controversial among scientists.   It is not a matter of "opinion" among scientists.

It is only a matter of "opinion" among religious conservatives who have convinced themselves that evolution contradicts a very narrow and simplistic view of Judeo-Christian faith.

  5. Fact. Demonstrated beyond any shadow of a doubt.

People who disagree do so because of emotional reasons, not rational ones.

  6. for some reason i believe fully in evolution, but i also am trusting of my Catholic beliefs. So i am not sure how that evens out...but i believe in both.

  7. FACT.  People who do not believe in evolution simply do not understand it or refuse to believe it.  One big arguement against evolution is that, because evolution is all "random chance mutations", it would be almost impossible for living organisms to adapt to an environment so quickly.  So they instead think that "god" changes them to adapt (or something like that...)  Well, evolution is not random chance mutations.  Read up on some Quantum Theory.

  8. fact and theory.

    a nice assay below

  9. Fact

My opinion doesn't matter, does it?  Whether or not I believe in gravitation, things fall, don't they?

  10. First, anyone who says that evolution is a fact is throwing you a bit of propaganda. A theory is never classified as a fact. Theories can be true and correct but science could never state them as fact because that would be to "all encompassing" and the universe is too unknown.

A theory that is assumed true is just one that holds up to peer scrutiny, works in the real world, and the scientific community has exhausted all known means of contradicting it. Evolution is a far cry from a fact.

The next thing to remember is that evolution is not even foundational in its philosophy. Humanistic naturalism is the world view that spawned evolution. The marxist political powers really liked this evolution and with their backing this evolution made its way to the head of science and education. This was due to the tremendous funding that went into it.

All evidence for evolution is subjective, has been proven false, or was fraudulent. To state that a pre-historic lilly pad turned into a tiger, then paying thousands of scientists to find evidence for it would sum up the events of the evolutionary sciences. If you pay enough brilliant minds enough money you can find evidence for anything. One real example would be how they have supposedly proven that a dinosaur turned into a humming bird. You can line up fossil in a subjective order and turn anything into anything. There is no hard evidence to show the dino bird theory.

Another very important point to remember is that micro evolution does NOT equal macro evolution. Seeing a 5% change in beak size cannot acount for how the beak and the rest of the bird, with all of it's molecular complexity, came to be. You will be bombarded with thousands of examples of a minor variation of a kind of animal and, through what is known as a bait and switch, you will be expected to swallow that this proves that a little molecule turned into everything we see on earth today. There is no evidence for macro evolution. Micro evolution should just be called variation. I see a post above that states that humans have gotten a little taller and that proves a pool of amino acids got together and made everything. The begining of life or abiogenesis has been thus far proven to be an impossibility through natural means. Any statements to the contrary are lies and propaganda. The miller urey experiment was a total failure but was presented in the educational systems as proof that making life is not really all that hard. This is garbage.

Children have been indocrtinated into this religion. Through the government educational system, millions and millions of people have been swayed to believe that the birds and the bananas are related.

I completely denounce the theory of evolution and I think you should study both sides of the issue as well. There are thousands of PhDs in all fields of science that will state that the Darwinian Theory of Evolution not only falls short but falls flat in it's attempt to explain how all of the diverse and specialized life has came to be.

  11. I'll just repeat what other have said - it is both a fact and a theory.

"Evolution" just means "change" - and in a biological context, it can mean two things:

[1] that populations of organisms change in their characteristics over time. This is observed FACT (see antibiotic resistant bacteria, the new 'flu virus each year, industral melanism of the peppered moth, and many, many more)

[2] the "Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection" as proposed by Darwin, and as refined by others last century into the "Modern Synthesis". This part is (obviously) a THEORY.

  12. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thre...  Opinions are like butts everyone has one. How about apes descending from man instead of man ascending from apes. Possible? People are discussing it.

  13. Fact. We have seen evolution in action for hundreds of years. Ex. Average height for a human male, 1900 5' 10" Now 6" something. Species evolve or become extinct.

  14. Theory, they haven't proven anything yet and haven't disproven anything. I believe in a mix of evolution and creation. kinda confusing so won't get into it.

  15. Fact and theory.

Fact: we can see species changing over time and splitting into two branches. Observed fact, not theorised.

Theory: We have a model for how and why this happens, initially thought up by Charles Darwin, but much improved upon since then. All of modern genetics is a part of this model.

  16. Opinions don't matter.  The evidence says it is a fact and a very useful and powerful scientific theory.
