Question:

Evolution and race? What do youthink?

Human Evolution divided Humans up into different races because of the environments in which they lived.

For example Europeans lived in colder climates with less sunlight, so they evolved with lighter skin and eyes to adapt to this type of climate.

I am just wanting to know your opinions. I know all the details behind this and I know specifically why each race evolved the way it did. So I dont need a lecture.

  1. then why are native Alaskans not white?

  2. Confusing when someone asks for an opinion on evolution, but knows the answers so doesn't want a lecture on evolution.  So ... I'll give a lecture (aka opinion) on humanity.

Race is a commonly used word to distinguish between humans of obviously physical distinction.  Perhaps I've watched too many sci-fi movies, but I'm of the opinion that the HUMAN RACE should be what we focus on; not skin tone, nor slant of the eyes.

Sure, environment has impacted how we look.  But we're still all brothers and sisters in a way.

  3. thats how evolution worked for as long as you beleive in the adam and eve c**p

  4. what do you mean what do i think, you just explained what you know without asking a question...

  5. I agree

  6. I agree with you so far.  But there used to be an argument that started as yours does, but then goes on to point out how white Europeans are more evolved than Black Africans or brown Native Americans.  This argument was actually very popular about 80 years ago, championed by such people as Charles Lindbergh, our president's grandfather Prescott Bush, and a guy with a little toothbrush mustache who was elected chancellor of Germany in 1933.

So long as your argument doesn't lead to a smug feeling of superiority, so long as you realize that all races have had the same amount of time to evolve, to adapt to their environment, then we're on the same page.  8^)

  7. Gligger's correct - what IS your question..?  You hit the nail on the head in your own answer.  If you believe in evolution, it's about 50k years of different climates.  You hit on skin color, but nose width is another (narrower, longer nose allows more heating of the air breathed in), and hair texture another (kinky hair keeps the sun off the head and adds volume to diffuse heat, while straight hair does exactly the opposite).  If you're a Fundamentalist, God made everyone as they are.

RE: Alsaka and Inuits, in general - less than 15k years in that climate.  And, possibly, their diet which is VERY different from Scandanavians (nb Greenland Colony failure), may have provided vitamin D and other nutrients...

  8. A thought:  ages ago, our ancestors developed physical differences to adapt or accommodate to the climates they lived in,  Then in just the past few centuries, we've moved all around and begun trying to make the climates we've moved to accommodate to US.  And now the polar ice cap is melting, the air we breathe is polluted, and the very planet is in danger.  Conclusion?

  9. What opinions? I guess I could talk about the racism aspect and say that I think that we are all homo sapiens, and racism exists because of the large difference in the cultures created by isolation. And thinking about it, I guess we will never really will get along because we can't all be mature and accept that we are different because we ARE animals, and have this inbred pattern of thought that makes us reject the minority to make us feel safer in our groups, like animal tribes, and how since foreverdeviancyy is looked down upon. Like the crazy one stands out, and so will draw attention to themselves and those around them. And it is hard for people to mesh racially because intermingling with other tribes is dangerous to your tribe's well being, and it is too uncomfortable getting along with their ways and getting used to their cultural differences.

That's the whole racism aspect from my point of view.

And native alaskans(and all indian people on america) are really migrants from asia who crossed over the bering straight when it was land since alot of the sea water was taken up in ice in the ice age. So i guess they aren't native native americans.

  10. I believe it was climate. makes the most sense really can you again white whities in central america where the sun is so hot without modern enclosures???

  11. James Watson, DNA researcher and Nobel Prize winner conducted a research which proved that there are differences among races. The conclusion of his study was that people naturally tend to think that we are all the same, regardless of race, but based on his well founded scientific research it was proven that there are differences.

Just as it is common to say that black people are better runners, James Watson's research proved that white people are more intelligent.

For his pursuit for the truth, James Watson, world class DNA scientist, and winner of Nobel Prize for discovery of DNA double helix was fired from his job for racism after media misrepresented his words. Very sad :(
