  1. Because there is a thing called religion which assures me that, Charles Darwin was not completely right.

I believe that i DID NOT evolve from a monkey.. those that do believe that well then heres a banana for you.   I came from Adam and Eve, not Bubbles the monkey and his friends..  call me what u like im not a monkey..

  2. First let me state that I graduated with a degree in Anthropology and cannot say that evolution is a fact. I do believe in evolution, but the fact is that it is very difficult to prove. Because of the large timespans involved in evolution it is difficult, if not impossible, to show a straightline progression from "ape" to man. Along the way we must infer some information to piece the puzzle together. Thats evolutions weakpoint and the area that is being exploited by Creationists. I suggest that you dont let creationists bother you. Besides, they cant prove anything either.

  3. The people who refute the facts have not evolved as far as the rest of us - they are still apes but aren't smart enough to realise it.

The bible is just their banana substitue.

Give it a few generations, their offspring will be more advanced.

Witness england - almost noone beleives in the imaginary friends that religion promotes - as a rear guard action those that get power from these fantasies are importing more of their kind (generally muslims now) but rather than being dragged back we are generally bringing them forwards.

  4. Folks is gonna be folks, ain't they?

Some are confused by religious fantasy, others just refuse to learn.

In the end it really doesn't matter why people refuse to learn.

We cannot badger them into accumulating knowledge.

  5. I totally accept it.

except the more I see people today......the more I think maybe apes evolved from a human-like ancestor and that humans are the missing link.....because overall we are pretty stupid

  6. What's so great about Evolutionary Theory and Out of Africa is that they'd be easy to refute.

    They haven't been refuted yet.

    Note:

There's a difference between that nefariously deceptive term "Fact", and the Truth, which science doesn't equate to.

A fact is merely something reguarded as "true".

    Reality is all relative.

You'd be hard pressed to find absolute "truths" aside from in the abstract realms (math: 2+2 = 4).

Science isn't about "truths" you pull out of your "divine" azz.

Science is always changing, evolving, improving; it's about probability, and relationships/interconnectedness between things, and then weeding out the lame hypotheses through use of logic.

Science isn't the Truth, but a sophisticated search for it.

  7. I think the above answer is a PERFECT example of why people continue to refute the facts!

While nothing is ever truly proven in science, evolution, much like gravity, heliocentricity, and other more widely-accepted ideas, has certainly not been disproven.  But I do NOT believe humans evolved from monkeys. I'm sure the original poster does not believe that either. I'm positive there is no text book that says that. All the same, I'll take a banana over fairy tales any day!

It's because of misunderstanding, in my opinion. I have yet to come across a person who denies the reality of evolution, while also demonstrating a clear understanding of it. Furthermore, most don't display too much concern for getting the facts right before they start countering them, which ironically enough they often do in a condescending manner as if we were the ignorant ones-- see above post for prime example of that.

  8. (Science has no FACT - the scientific method has: observation, creating a hypothosis, testing, and drawing a conclusion - or making a theory.  If the Theory is proven true time and time again it then can become a law of science)

Most of these answers are good; they bring up valid and sometimes fun points about evolution and faith.  A couple of observations I have made are that people in America still have our puritan roots showing at times, and considering that most of the early americans were either kicked out of England for being religious nuts, or came over looking to make a quick buck (or perhaps I should say a quick pound...) It's no wonder we are filled with greedy idiots.  The same people who refused the whole solar system idea, are in the same line as the people today who refuse to believe in the Theory of evolution, or the Big Bang, or Global warming for that matter...(also the same folks who refused - and some still refuse to beleive that tobacco is bad for you)  The reason that they won't accept science is simply that it may mean that they will lose faith in the "all powerful space daddy" - as Bill Maher put it; oh and lest we forget, they may not get to make money in the name of god - take a look at some of the evangelical churches, think those buildings (and television air time) come cheap?  I was asked by an evangelical if I was a sheep of christ...after all, the "flock" just follows the leaders anyway. All we can hope for, is that if American Schools ever become better, we will EDUCATE children, and also teach them about the foolishness of previous generations.  All I can think is "Who wants to be a sheep anyway?"

  9. because they are evengelical nutcases, who alter thier reality to fit into thier religion.

  10. You are expecting religious people, who are enslaved to the most idiotic of superstitions, to think rationally.  They never will.

    Harleigh Kyson Jr.

  11. There should be thousands of half ape and half man skeletons found by now and on display in some museum.

But so far, all they have is a few skull caps, a tooth, and a monkey they named Lucy. Her femer bones were found two miles from each other. Give me a break, the evidence would not hold up in a court of law. Prove me wrong if you find these thousands of ape like ancestor skeletons in some museum.

We have found thousands of dinosaur bones, and they are on display in museums and they are still digging them up. Plus they are at least 60,000,000 years old, some of them are up to 200,000,000 years old. They lasted all that time, how come human bones can't last 500,000 years????

Also, you can't prove that history of any human civilization goes any further than 5,000 years ago.  Why???

  12. OK Barrett G  Prove it, "with facts".You see.! there are  no facts  to produce, your just like the rest who aren't worth a carrot.

  13. because they dont want to believe it because dumbass god says that adam and eve were in a graden and thats just freacking bull c**p and yall know it.  You can go ahead and say "omg you need t believe in god because hes the almighty" and i will say ahead of time **** god!

  14. There are more theories, the most unlikely one, that we were made by god.And there are also some theories that we were made by aliens, archaeologists supposedly found some ancient scripts that say that an advanced civilization made us.

Ofc the ape man theory is not proven, because of that missing link between monkey and man

  15. You just don't get it. The truth is:

After the Frost Giants emerged from the ice, Buri appeared. He beget Bor. Bor and Bestla had three sons: Odin was the first, Vili the second, and Vé the third.

While walking along the sea shore the sons of Bor found two trees, and from them they created a man and a woman.

Odin gave the man and the woman spirit and life. Vili gave them understanding and the power of movement. Vé gave them clothing and names. The man was named Ask [Ash] and the woman Embla [Elm?]. From Ask and Embla have sprung the races of men who lived in Midgard.

Odin said it, I believe it and that settles it.

    Seriously:

"Surveys are also fairly consistent in their estimates of how many Americans believe in evolution or creationism. Approximately 40%-50% of the public accepts a biblical creationist account of the origins of life, while comparable numbers accept the idea that humans evolved over time. The wording of survey questions generally makes little systematic difference in this division of opinion."

Here's the problem The issue isn't an "either or" one. It's not a political campaign where negative attack ads will cause voters to switch sides. Every culture, tribe and people  have creation narratives. If people believe in creationism, which theory is the "right" one?

    Here are the theories

"Young Earth" Created by supernatural means 6-10,000 years ago

"Old Earth" Earth is millions, not thousands of years old. This theory has several versions:

"Gap" Earth is old but had fallen into decay. Life was begun on the old planet. This does address fossil evidence.

"Progressive" God allows certain things natural selection and mutations to occur but will directly intervene as required.

"Framework Interpretation" holds the Genesis account isn't literal but more represents the outline of how life came to be.

"Day Age" Here it's held that "Day" can be thousands of millions of years. The world was crated in 6 "days" but it was over a very long time.

"Theistic" AKA  "evolutionary creationism", creation is compatible with  scientific theory (evolution) as it is a tool used by God,

" Literal" God created everything in 6 days right before 23 October  4004 BC. Everything in Genesis is correct and true.

So the next time a creationist drops by, ask them which theory they are going on about. If it's literal ask them how their slaves are and if they still beat their wives.

  16. eazy , who created the apes, and who created who they evolved from, and so on and so on. it is simple really only humans were created in God's image, not apes, and humans are the only thing that have souls, apes and animals do not. and r u realy gonna tell urself that u came from a stinky 3 fourths intelligant animal??

  17. We couldn't evolve in 100,000 years or so, it was E.T. that messed with our primate DNA to make us human. That is a pausable Creation theory. (praise be to E.T.)

  18. Not only are we evolved from ape like ancestors, they were actually apes.  There were apes such as Sohelanthropus, Australopithecus, etc that are presumed to be in our line.  We evolved from a common ancestor with the chimp that was an ape.  It may have been a bipedal ape such as Sohelanthropus.  It may be that the common ancestor was a knuckle-walker similar to chimps.  Before that, our ape ancestors were the common ancestor with Gorillas, and human/chimp.  Before that they were the common ancestor with Orangutans and human/chimp/gorilla.  Before that there was a monkey that was the common ancestor with apes and monkeys.  It wasn't like a modern monkey but it was a creature we would call a monkey.  Even the guy that says he is a grad student, won't acknowledge that we have a monkey in our ancestry.  It is no wonder the religious do not.  Too many people want to put humans on a separate path.  Clearly we have an animal past, present, and future.  It is irrefutable, but hard for people to accept.

  19. Because, like the 2nd responder, many people can ignore all evidence when they "believe" something.  What should scare you is getting a person like that on a jury when they "believe" you are guilty.  When a person believes in the supernatural, no amount of evidence will sway their belief.

Sorry:  Perhaps that was the 3rd responder. Anyway you get the point & I'm sure you've seen those that would believe it was dark  at mid day, if told it were so by one they considered an authority figure.
