  1. "The Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin

  2. He popularized it!

A French Gentleman by the name of, de LeMarck, preceeded him, with a similar one...

The Greeks & Romans had the concept, including Aristotle!

"Evolvere" was Latin for, "a rolling out, or unfolding of events"...

Finally, every major biologists since Darwin, has contributed to the refinement of this 'Theory'...

  3. Well Lila S,

Sparrowette is your best answer on this one. She gives the detailed info and is obviously in a position to write with authority on the subject. Read her words and be informed.

  4. Every evolutionist ignores first base. They look at all the similarities between the species and say they evolved from something else. But since science has failed to create life, they ignore how it got started.  How did evolution get so smart to create the DNA code for every thing that has life?  Lets start there first, then run the rest of the bases for a home run.

  5. Well, he essentially came up with it. Have you even looked for this answer? Actually, don't bother answering that, because it's clear you have not.

  6. I have to agree with Ry-Guy and say that you definitely could have found out A LOT about Darwin's theory of evolution from a text book or GOOD website (if in fact this is for school, as I suspect it is; if I am mistaken and you really just want to know the information, then I am happy to help! Just contact me!).

The fact is, though, that there is also a lot of misinformation and confusion out there when it comes to controversial topics like evolution, so caveat emptor! ("Buyer beware!")

I'm not going to spit out a whole explanation of Darwin's theory and concepts, but I am going to correct some misinformation here. LeMarck did NOT "come up" with the same theory of evolution that Darwin used. LeMarck was indeed a French evolutionary theorist, but he mistakenly attributed population "evolutionary" changes to acquired characteristics (like if we cut off two lizards' tails and mated them, the offspring would be tail-less), which is not so 99% of the time; the exception could be radiation poisoning or some other acquired factor that also affects the gametes, or s*x cells.

You should also be aware that while Charles Darwin is largely credited as the founder of the "evolution by common descent" theory and sexual selection, he had a cohort and contemporary named Alfred Russel Wallace who all-too-often is overshadowed by Darwin. The two theories are similar, and the two men were in correspondence and, in fact, planned to publish much of their initial theory (-ies) together, until Darwin moved his publication date up and published first (or so the legend goes).

There's my gentle directing hand... but if you really would like help and information, just message or email me.

  7. Charles Darwin developed the theory of evolution by natural selection, which explained the fact of evolution.

( I do not know why links are appearing in preview and submit, but not here, so you will have to put that into your address line yourself )

  8. Charles Darwin played the role of hypothesizer. He hypothesized that evolution is a processs that happens over a long period of time, driven by the process of natural selection, mutation and replication.
