Question:

Evolution vs. Creation

I would like all the creationists present to offer their favorite piece of evidence for their case.

I would also like evolutionary theorists to do the same.

Be it known that i respect both parties but believe firmly in evolution.

Here is mine. There are a number of creatures that possess anatomical structures that are described as vestigial structures- that is, they are the remains of once-useful body parts that no longer serve any function. An example is a subterranean species of lizard that possesses small imprints where its eyes would otherwise be. My question is: why would a creator give this creature vestiges of eyes?!

  1. My favorite piece of evidence (out of millions) are retroviruses.  These are viruses that insert themselves in your DNA, so that when it replicates, you replicate the virus as well.  They can insert themselves anywhere in this chain of millions of proteins, so the odds of it happening twice in the same place are nearly zero.  But apes and humans have the same extinct retroviruses in the exact same place.  Pretty cool demonstration of common descent.
