Manchester United’s defender and French international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 feels that England could prove to be the Chelsea in the upcoming Euro 2012.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 are set to take on England on the 11th of July, in the opening game of Group D in the competition. However, despite the two teams going up against each other, Evra feels that England could surprise everyone.
The defender feels that the team has the same qualities that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 had in the Champions League and should they get their cards right, they could go all the way.
Chelsea surprised everyone as they beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and then went on to overcome Bayern Munich in Munich in the finals of the competition.
Like Chelsea, no one really expects England to go far in the tournament, which is why they are looking to be the dark horse of the competition.
When talking about England and the upcoming tournament, Evra is reported to have said: “I take the example of Chelsea. They were at rock bottom when [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294] Di Matteo took over.”
“But they’ve ended up as champions of Europe. The England team remain the team who really want to beat us.”
England are going to be taking on France without http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736, since the player needs to serve out his two game ban before he can make it back into the team.
This might prove to be a problem for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 at the club.
The forward was the inspirational force which helped Chelsea go on and win the tournament. Now in order for the Three Lions to be able to do that, they are going to need at least one player to step up and take responsibility to guide the team forward.
It is still unclear just who that player might be, but in order for England to progress they are going to have to put on inspirational performances, or they could have another disappointing run on the international stage, like they did in the World Cup in
2010.
