Evra unconcerned about Manchester United’s unbeaten streak
Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 has claimed that his side has never even thought about the possibility of becoming the new ‘invincibles’. The United fullback insists that the team is fully focused on winning the Barclays Premier League title this season,
regardless of results.
The Red Devils are currently unbeaten this season, and are on track to repeat the heroics of the Arsenal squad which went through the entire 2003/04 campaign without so much as a single loss. That squad became known as the ‘invincibles’. After 21 games,
Manchester United are well on their way to achieving repeating that phenomenal achievement.
However, Patrice Evra claims that the Red Devils had not even thought about going through the entire season unbeaten. The French international insists that everyone in the United dressing room is focused solely on winning their record-breaking 19th
Barclays Premier League crown.
Patrice Evra said, “Everyone keeps talking about the unbeaten record on the outside of the club. But inside, no one has even mentioned that challenge. All we are concerned with is winning the league. That is the most important thing. If we are still unbeaten
that is a bonus.”
The Red Devils recently came away with a valuable point from White Hart Lane after they held Tottenham to a 0-0 draw. If Spurs had managed to beat United on Sunday, the title race would have been thrown wide open. As it stands though, Manchester United are
still on track to win their 19th Premier League crown.
Speaking on that decisive match, Evra said, “All the country was against Manchester United (against Tottenham). Everyone wanted us to lose and we didn't. That is a great challenge for us. But it is not the most important thing. The most important thing is
to win the league.”
If Manchester United can keep up this form, they might just remain unbeaten until the end of the current campaign. It will be a phenomenal achievement, and yet another notch in Sir Alex Ferguson’s belt.
Birmingham will be the next team to have a shot at ending Manchester United’s stellar run. Let’s see if Alex Mcleish’s men can pull of an unlikely win when they travel to Old Trafford on Saturday.
