I went to vacation for a few weeks and when I came back my roommates left the house a disgusting mess! The sink was filled with dirty dishes and I found a group of maggots in a bowl! That entire area smelled disgusting!! How do I get rid of the maggots and make sure they don't return? And where did they come from?

  1. Wash everything with a bleach solution, if you have a garbage disposal, pour some bleach down it followed by hot water...

  2. yuck, wash everything in bleach and get a new room mate !!!

they wont return if everything is clean and stays clean.

they have something to do with flies, not sure how that fits together though. the flies are the shiny green ones.

    that is really sick.

  3. Maggots are fly larvae (baby flies)  they got there because flies lay eggs on food sources (the sink full of dirty dishes).  They won't hurt you; put on some plastic gloves, dump them in a bag, and throw it away.  Then wash the dishes well to get rid of any unhatched eggs.  To prevent them from coming get new roommates who will not leave food in the sink for a few weeks.
