Ewww...Gnats from banana..How do I get rid of them

My kids usually gobble up all the bananas before they even begin to get black spots on them but I guess they missed one!! I now have those pesky little gnats and don't remember how to get rid of them...Help!! :)

The best thing I have found is aerosol hairspray.

Those are fruit flies.  The way I get rid of them is to put rotten fruit in the bottom of my trash can with a plastic liner in it.  Wait 10 minutes and close the top of the liner with the fruit flies inside and take outside.  You can throw it away or let the flies out and reuse the liner.
