  1. DON'T bath your rabbit!  It's very stressful for them and for some rabbits can even send them into shock and possibly even kill them if they are especially stressed by it.  It should only be done when absolutely necessary and recommended by your vet!

So far, the other responders are incorrect.  Your rabbit does not need to be washed or wiped down with a pet wipe- the problem is that his scent glands need to be cleaned out.  It should be part of your regular grooming routine, I do mine about once a month when I trim their nails. Wherever your rabbit came from should have shown you how to do this, if not: You'll need Q-tips and either mineral oil or warm water to soften the gunk that's in there and remove it gently. Do this outside, it stinks! Have a paper towel or something to put the used Q-tips on while you work, you don't want that stuff anywhere you can't easily pick it up and throw it away. There is one located on both sides of their genitals. You'll know it when you see it, they will smell foul and be filled with a waxy substance, ranging in color from yellow to dark brown or black. Here's a good link about how to locate them and clean them, as well as other grooming information: http://www.ontariorabbits.org/diet/carei...

  2. You may not be feeding him a proper diet or housing him well. If he is not neutered, that adds to the issue too.

But he also may be sick.

  3. @@"

well...mine got p**p around its butt area and my family and i just washed him...

u can take ur rabbit to the vet...if its weird not like mine

sorry dont kno if this helps or not

  4. idk.....bathe him???

  5. Rabbits usually clean themselves, but if he doesnt, you should just give him a bath using cat shampoo. Human shampoo is too harsh for their skin.

  6. It probably just doesn't clean itself very well.....if you see rabbit feaces around the bottom then you'll just have to wash it yourself. Just use a damp kitchen towel to wipe it down.

  7. It may have a bladder infection or something upset its tummy.  If it has the runs, it may just be the upset tummy.  Giving them a lot of greens or something they aren't use to will give them a belly ache.   Urinary infections are hard to tell, but I did have one rabbit that that was wrong with her... and man she smelled.  I'm not 100% sure on that one though.  It could also be the ammonia from old p**p left in its cage.  Check its feet and butt for any stuck p**p and clean it off.  Another thing you could do if your rabbits butt is dirty is soak its butt in a little water.  Some don't mind the water.  If you still can't figure it out, take it to the vet.

Sorry if I wasn't of any help

  8. use rabbit wipes or spray. you can get them at the petstore. if that doesnt work you can wash its bottom get a cloth wet with warm water and lather with baby shampoo.
