Ex-Barcelona boss blasts Arsene Wenger on Fabregas transfer saga
Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has criticised Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for refusing to consider Cesc Fabregas’ transfer to Barcelona. The Gunners boss has made it clear that he has no intention of selling his star player, despite the Spaniard’s
wishes of rejoining his old club.
Fabregas played for the Barcelona youth team in the early stages of his career. He was signed by Arsenal in 2003.  Since then, he has established himself as one of the best playmakers in the world. Fabregas played alongside his former Catalan colleagues
during the FIFA World Cup 2010, reigniting his desire to return to his boyhood club.
Barcelona have been pursuing Fabregas since the summer of last year, and the Spaniard has made no secret of his desire to return to the Nou Camp. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is impeding the move, refusing all offers for the player’s services.
Barcelona director Raul Sanllehi recently admitted that there was no chance of a deal being struck between the two parties. However, former Barcelona president Joan Laporta remains optimistic. In a strongly worded statement, Laporta criticised Wenger’s stubbornness.
He believed that it would be justice to let Fabregas return to the Nou Camp.
Speaking on the Fabregas transfer saga, Laporta said, “I would have liked it if Cesc came to Barca in the way [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664] Pique came. He abandoned Manchester United, making it clear he was going to Barca. He and Cesc are players that were formed here. The English
come here to do fishing. They came to fish for Pique and Cesc. It's an issue of justice we now want to recover them.”
He added, “Signing Cesc is not urgent but he is a great player. I think next season or the one after he could come to Barcelona.”
Arsenal and Barcelona are currently gearing up for their Champions league Round of 16 encounter. Despite his strong links with Barcelona, Fabregas has made it clear that he will not be going easy on his former teammates when the two sides clash on 16th February.
