  1. I actually JUST STARTED homeschooling.

    It's pretty cool so far.

Going back to public school will just be like you moved,

and your going to a new school. You'll meet new people,

    ect.

  2. I homeschooled my son, 2nd through 6th grade, then he went to PS 7th and 8th.  Next year he will be coming back home for homeschooling again.

I would suggest talking to the superintendent about what you have experienced so far and what your fears are.  I did this and the school put my son in a smaller classroom to help him adjust.

Remember that most schools have an "opt out" policy.  The majority of students do not know this.  So if they are expecting you do an assignment that is against your religion or beliefs, you can request to opt out of it and be given an alternative.  Hopefully you will have understanding teachers.  That is not always the case.  You may have to be subjected to peer pressure, but stand up for what you know is right, no matter how much teasing you might have to endure.

The hardest part of adjusting for my son was having to have assignments handed in on time.  He was used to working at his own pace.  Also when he first started he was ahead of the other kids in Math.  That was frustrating because it's like being held back, having to go through what you already know and not learning something new.  What a waste of time.  The teacher had him help others in the class who were struggling.  That's good, but they should have taught him to his ability.  Next year my son is going to be home for high school.  It was a good learning experience for him.  He told me that he made homeschooling harder than it had to be.  He's ready to work at his own pace again.  Faster or slower, it's what every child needs.

  3. The first answer is so funny.

I've not made the transition into Public school. I only have basically one year left, so I figure there's not to much of a point to go back. I'm happy you're doing when I wish I would have.

But the advice I can give is just be yourself. Don't give into peer pressure. Just focus on your work, and the rest will fall into place.

    =)

  4. My kids went back to public at 7th grade. They adjusted pretty well. It is true, you are just like coming in as a new kid.

  5. Why are you going back to public school ? Nothing is better than being homeschooled ! If you want to go far in life , continue homeschooling .
