Ex-Quarterback Jake Plummer not buying into Tebow Mania - NFL News
Tebow-mania is sweeping New York City as the young quarterback continues to remain in the news even days after his surprising trade by the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets.
One ex-quarterback though is not so taken with the whole Tim Tebow phenomenon. Jake Plummer the ex-quarterback for Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos in a radio interview on Thursday said that even though Tebow is a great guy he is not the one to help
reach and win the Super Bowl.
Plummer also added that the Broncos made the correct decision in signing Peyton Manning and even though Broncos fans were taken with Tebow, they would be much more pleased with Manning’s arrival than Tebow’s departure.
“It was tough for them to get rid of Tim Tebow. He had won that whole town over, and a lot more people across the globe love Tim Tebow. You don't win a Super Bowl with a humanitarian behind center, and right now, that's what Tim Tebow is."
Tebow was shifted to the Jets as soon as the Broncos secured the signing of Peyton Manning with the franchise receiving a fourth and sixth round draft pick in return.
Plummer then moved on to this year’s drafts and one young quarterback to interest him was likely second pick Robert Griffin III.
The ex-quarterback went on to say that Griffin who is likely to be picked up by Washington Red Skins will be forced to follow the script by Mike Shanahan and the two don’t look like a good fit.
"He (Shanahan) has a system, and he wants you to fit that system, and if you don't, it's kind of hard for him to build it around you. And I think RG3 is going to come in, he's a totally different animal of quarterback.”
Adding further Plummer hoped that both Griffin and Shanahan could find a way to make it work and help the young quarterback realise his undoubted potential.
"I just hope there's a good mesh there and they'll let the kid grow.”
The drafts take place on April 26-28 and all eyes will be on Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck to see which player will go as the number one pick.
