Ok, I have an ex-directory BT landline. I heard that there is a number you can put in before you dial so that you will not appear ex-directory to the reciever. What is the number?

Thanks

  1. I think if you put 141 before you dial a number it will withhold the number you are dialing from.

  2. You should be aware that being ex-directory does not automatically withhold your number on outgoing calls.   You need to request that separately.   You can have any one of the four permutations of directory/ex-directory and number presented/withheld that you wish.

If you are not sure whether your number is presented by default, either make a call to another phone and see the results on the caller ID or via 1471, or you can dial the test number 17070.  If it reads your number back to you, then your number is presented by default; if it tells you that no CLI was detected, then your number is normally withheld.

In either case the two codes to override your default setting are 141 to withhold or 1470 to present your number.

  3. 1470 allows your number to be revealed

  4. hiya its 1470, check this site
