8 years ago, my ex spouse obtained credit in my name by simply speaking my social security number. He never signed anything.

He never paid the account and I never knew about it. 8 years later, creditors are still hounding me about it. How can I get this account removed? I do not understand how it is my responsibility since he got it without my knowing. Please help.

  1. Use the information on the Federal Trade Commission regarding ID theft.  Take the steps as instructed on the web site.  http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/id...

Start a diary of the actions you are taken to correct these problems, begin with the date you discovered the ID theft.

    Best wishes.
