  1. How big is your worm bin? That will determine how much food you give it.  Also, how many worms did you put in?

** I feed my large worm bin about 3-4 cups of scraps a week.  I have a pound of worms in mine too, and they seem to handle that well, as long as I keep giving them bedding.  I have a cool-whip container that I put my scraps in, and when it's full, I put them in the bin : )

  2. Hello, generally it depends on how settled in your worms are. For the first year they will be slower and more likely to run(?!) away. Once they have bedded in though and the second or third generation have grown you should be able to give them all the food waste from a family of 4 without any worry.

"Worms compost quickly: they are the fastest natural composters by far. The fact that they eat up to half their own body weight in waste everyday makes them very efficient at clearing waste."

edit: thats pretty big, you are going to have to keep regular amounts going in to keep that lot happy!
