A mythical spirit entity which habitually appears in animal form to a person. Such things are not known to actually exist.

Wikipedia describes familiar spirits (or simply familiars) as animal-shaped spirits who serves for witchery, a demon or other magician-related subjects. The most common familiars are cats (mostly black but also rarely white), owls and dogs. Animal-shaped spirits could have been any conjured spirits which have been attached to a certain animal. Or perhaps the spirit of that animal itself which have been conjured or manipulated to serve its owner. Notice that familiars only serve those who practices mysticism. Which means that an ordinary pet is far from becoming one.

A familiar is one who has for generations been around your family. That is why they can lie so well they have observed most everything for years and years. You can tell the difference if you will just ask the Holy Spirit to let you know if it is of God or not. Always ask to receive only from God and bind anything of/from Satan and his entities.
