Exactly what is fantasy sports? avid baseball fan wants to learn?

been following cubs for 53 yrs. so i know baseball,but never understood what fantasy sports are. i could even understand the football fantasy sport if it was explained throughly.thanks

It's pretty boring, basically you just take players from real life and follow their statistics and compete with others to see whose players do better... Fantasy football is a lot more fun, baseball is harder since its an everyday sport.

Fantasy Baseball:

Usually between 8-12 people are in a league. You start with a draft. Some leagues, you just pick National or American League players but most of them are "mixed" leagues which contain both American and National League players. You want to draft the best players. Then you/Yahoo/ESPN or what ever type league your in follow the players you pick and add up the stats usually each week. The team that wins the most catagories wins. (Batting: HR, RBI, AVG, SB, Hits....Pitching: Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP, Ks) those are some of the usuals.
