The HP Griffindor scarf in the first movie certainly wasn't a knit or purl etc. It looked smooth and flat on each side, yet was a very tight knit.

Can any of you professional knitters out there tell me which stitch they used? What size needle you recomend , and what matterial was the yarn used for it?

Please only respond if you really know. Thanks.

  1. It appears to be knit on a circular needle in stockinette stitch.  So, it is actually a tube, probably a machine knit that is knit flat and seamed, which is indicated by the gauge of it (the stitches are small enough that you cannot see them clearly in the pictures.  You can achieve a very similar look with a size 1 (US) 16" circular needle and fingering or baby weight yarn on 80 - 120 or so stitches.  It will just take a lot of time, because that scarf is probably also at least 6 feet long.
