Examining the best player, alternate captain, forward of Dallas Stars line-up- Loui Eriksson
Loui Eriksson, the Swedish international hockey player, alternate captain of the Dallas Stars and player who plays forward on the right-wing, has by far been the best player of Dallas Stars team in recent years.
If we see his stats and figures, not many have achieved what he has consistently been achieving. Last season was third straight season that he got 70 points in. And this is something which puts him in the elite company of NHL superstars Steven Stamkos, the
22-year-old wonder kid who scored 90 plus points in all three season from 2009-2011, Joe Thornton, Eric Staal, Martin St. Louis, Anze Kopitar and Henrik Sedin.
The last player to achieve the feat in Dallas Stars’ side was Mike Modano, the American center who amazingly got 81, 81, 84, 77, 85 points in the 1998-1999, 1999-2000, 2000-2001, 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons respectively. It means that Loui Eriksson is
first man in seven years to achieve the feat at Dallas, Texas based side.
The thing that makes Eriksson such a talented and classic player is that he brings with himself so many different options and varieties. He can play at the right wing, he has got ability to play at the left wing, and he shoots with his right hand, which
is always a very tricky thing. He is one of the best defence forwards and can even check the opponents when required as his 106 Penalty in Minutes (PIM’s) indicate that, with an excellent plus-minus rating of plus 18.
Next year, Gothenburg, Sweden player would have even better chances of doing good as he would be joined by likes of Jaromir Jagr and Derek Roy, two of the most experienced and high-scoring player of the NHL.
Czech national Jaromir Jagr is one of the highest scoring player of NHL with more than thousand points to his name and experience of 18 years at the league. Whereas Derek Roy has played more than 500 games and has got more than 400 points. With these two
players alongside him, Eriksson can be expected to further improve his performance.
Drafted 33rd in the 2003 NHL draft by Stars’, the 6-foot-2, 193 pounder had signed a six-year contract with Dallas Stars in 2010 and still has four years left with his contract. At the age of 27, he surely has a lot of hockey left inside him and
would have so much to offer in coming years.
