  1. Have you tried felt play? Here are the benefits; felt can be used to stimulate tactile, visual, creative and intellectual experiences. It promotes language, memorization, sequencing, auditory, fine and large motor skills. Experience in lifeskills, social/emotional and spiritual/emotional development. Some felt products will have audio tapes, studies show that when you use a multisensory (see, touch, listen) approach to learning, children remember better.

Some educational felt products also come with lesson ideas, play activities, background information, literature references and teacher resources.

  2. Those are all great suggestions! I have to put in my input though, because I'm a music teacher. From a musical perspective, playing classical music and other styles of music for the students and having them draw what they hear or feel is a great way for expression. Some examples of music are the Nutcracker by Tchaikowsky and Peter and the Wolf.

  3. Hi...I love your question! I am the author of over twenty books on creative art for children. I can address the aspect of art in creativity for you. In fact, you can find lots and lots of art lessons on my website at http://www.brightring.com, and even more at www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/ which is the Incredible Art Department.  The most important thing about creativity is to value the process over the finished product. For example, provide the child with materials to explore, to discover the outcomes on his own. Do not dictate what those materials must product. Here is an article I wrote on Fostering Creativity on my website: http://www.brightring.com/creativity.htm... It explains things very clearly. I hope you can use it!  Please feel free to write to me through my website if I can further help you with specific lessons that encourage creativity. It would be my pleasure.
