Why is it important to be and stay commited to a team. Whether its a sports team or in a work or school enviroment?

It helps you to develop respect for others and responsibility... others learn to depend on you as part of the team and if you quit you are not only letting yourself down, but the whole team.

the famous slogan - all for one and one for all.  this is true of team spirit.  we give away a part of ourself for the benefit of the grp and sometimes its the other way around.  

selflessness, letting off that ego, not power hungry, not the glory, mindfulness etc are factors that help team stay intact.  so its a lot of efforts on each member to allow it to remain intact.

its a long journey and worth the effort to see success at end of time
