  1. Pain in and under the diaphragm may be felt in the shoulder.  It's very common after laparoscopy.


  2. Referred pain is a phenomenon used to describe pain perceived at a site adjacent to or at a distance from the site of an injury's origin.  examples of this is :

    1.  pain down you left arm during a heart attack.

    2.  Brain Freeze (from the vagus nerve in your throat)

    3.  Phantom limb pain (after an amputation is still feels like      your having pain in the limb that you no longer have)
