Excel formulas...How do I include a dollar sign ($) when entering a formula?

I am trying to calculate different items from different worksheets. But I want to put a dollar sign in the formula. How do I accomplish that?

  1. not real sure of exactly what you're trying to accomplish.  If you could include an example it would help.

    assuming you're just trying to use a $ sign as a character in some formula, you'll have to put double-quotes "$" around it.

    for example:

    ="$"&A1  (where A1=50)

    result would be $50


  2. The dollar sign has no function in a formula.  However, the result displayed can have a dollar sign.  Just right click the cell and do format, cell, number, and pick currency, and how many decimal places you want.
