Excel (2003) takes a LONG time to open. It can take between 20sec-2min to actually open. Blank file or not. I have done everything I can find on the web. I changed the file types ("%1") I made sure that nothing was starting up with the Excel file at the same time. No, this is NOT a network issue. It happens ON the computer itself. No network involved. It has been very frustrating. I even un-installed and re-installed. I have changed the registry. The problem was with Word and power point and Excel...I fixed the other two, this excel has been stubborn. ANY SUGGESTIONS would be great as I am ready to chuck this software!

Like I said, NOT a network issue. NOT a printer issue (has no printer) and I have done the registry and the file types and the general tab thing and nothing is working. I need my sanity back.

  1. The problem is uninstalling via Windows Uninstall process does NOT clean the registry; ergo, a reinstall remembers the previous settings

I use the FREE CCleaner > Tools to Uninstall > then Registry, to clean out the Resgistry

    Finally, a Restart

I also like the FREE Revco uninstaller

  2. DUDE UPGRADE TO 2007 WAY BETTER

  3. it happens sometimes
