I have a set of monster composite cables on my HD TV hooked up to my cable box. I just realised the box will take an HDMI cable also, is it worth changing from the cable to an HDMI is there that much of a differance ?

  1. I assume you mean component cables-red, green, blue?

    Composite cables are SDS.

At normal lenghths, there's no significant performance difference between component cables and HDMI cables.

However, HDMI cables carry audio, eliminating the need for five cables total, and there are devices, like Blu-ray DVD players that won't output HD video unless an HDMI cable is used.

Forget monster cables-you shouldn't spend more than $15 for an HDMI cable.
