Excelling at training camp: Pittsburgh Steelers say QB Ben Roethlisberger hits his prime – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers’ star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has recently hit the headlines over disclosure of carrying a rotator tear from last year but onlookers and teammates who watch him at training camp do not see the injury affecting his form – they have
found him as sharp and quick as ever before.
Ben said he had suffered the injury in their game against the Baltimore Ravens in November last year but insisted it was just soreness, nothing serious. He continues the workout at training camp without any interruption.
Some of the commentators and other people who watched the veteran throwing football say he looks little affected in his form. His throws are as accurate as ever before. He is also equally sharp and agile.
His teammates are particularly impressed with the player’s skills. Wide receiver Antonio Brown said of the quarterback:
"He's looking really good, throwing good and just having a good camp overall."
Brown, who is leading the team’s receivers’ group in absence of veteran WR Mike Wallace, who is on a holdout due to the pending deal issue, said he is picking up what the quarterback expects from him. He said:
"I'm learning where he wants me to go. And with him, I know that if I get there, the ball will be there for me."
The receiver’s remarks coincide with a similar view expressed by tight end Heath Miller. Miller said:
"He looks like the same old Ben to me, which is a great quarterback. Nothing new on that front."
Emmanuel Sanders, another starting receiver, says the QB has approached his prime and this is the reason for him to have a great time out at training camp. He said:
"All quarterbacks usually come into their prime around 30 years old. And I feel like Ben is starting to come into his prime with his arm strength and understanding and everything."
The endorsements are the encouraging sign that the QB has continued his league run with the same level of energy and vigour. This can be due to the fact, as disclosed by Roethlisberger himself, that he has become rather smart in his training workout, preserving
himself for the longer run. He, for example, has limited his throws in the walk-through sessions to a selective number, instead of throwing every time.
