As the above answerer said Athlone in Westmeath. It has a new shopping centre and is becoming the best shopping area in the midlands.

Newry in the north is good as well.

Why not cities though? Derry city is excellent for shopping!

kildare town and newbridge town (both in county Kildare on the M7 about 45 mins/60-70kms from dublin city centre)

blanchardstown (outskits of dublin on the M3 about 20mins/20km from dublin city centre)

and Carlow town (in county Carlow off the M9 about the same distance/time as kildare and newbridge)
