Question:

Excessive mucous in eye?

My fiance has a bunch of a mucous like substance coming from his eyes. The mucous moves around underneath his eye lids when he rubs them or moves his eyes. It's very, very irritating to him and really starting to hurt. His eyes only get pink from him rubbing them. Eye drops seemed to help some mucous come out but didn't seem to do much. We are not sure if it's allergies, there is no sneezing or any other accompanied symptoms, just the white mucous in his eyes. Any ideas to what it may be? (We don't think it's pink eye, it's not acting like pink eye)

  1. Typically the eye produces excess mucous when it's irritated...whether that be from infection or from a foreign object. Best bet is to see a doc.
