Question:

Exchange 2007 Sync with Blackberry Devices?

Just a quick question, we have the devices syncing with the exchange server, however some users have asked if we can set it up so that they can review and delete messages on their device without it updating their outlook inbox at work.

So say I read a message on the go, can I keep it set as "unread" on the exchange server? Is that a setting on the device or the server? Any help is appreciated.

  1. The purpose behind connecting as an exchange server is to fully synchronize your mail/contacts/calendar. If you want to disassociate the two devices, consider:

    a) Enabling pop3 on the exchange server and downloading it as pop3 on the blackberry. Make sure that it leaves a copy on the server and does not delete messages on the server

    b) Forward email from that account to a separate account and set it up so that it leaves a message on the server (In AD Users and computers, create a new contact/user for yourself, go to the Exchange General tab in the user's properties, click Delivery options, set up forwarding to that contact/user you created, and check deliver messages to both addresses. You'd then want to set up rules for the reply to from your 2nd address to really be the first address. Its a bit convoluted, but it'd accomplish what you want.
