  1. never been on one

  2. If you really feel you want to go on an exchange for a whole year, because you think it will be more fulfilling and beneficial for your personal development, then in my opinion, you should.  I'm sure your parents will understand - it's your life and career, after all.

I went on an exchange to Germany for a full year, rather than six months, and I'm certainly glad I did.  And I've heard from some people that six months wasn't quite long enough in terms of gaining a worthwhile experience.  Another disadvantage to a six-month stay is how you will spend the remaining six months of the year..

But I'm a firm believer that wherever in the world you go for an exchange, you will enjoy it, and hopefully have good memories for a long time afterwards.

Best of luck with your decision.

  3. Hi, well it really depends whether or not you want to become fully immersed in the culture and learn danish fluently. According to my friends in older years, a year is much better as opposed to a half-year because you have to leave just as you are getting a hang of family life and the mother tongue. Of course, it'll be harder as predominately english is second language in Denmark so there will always be the temptation of speaking it rather than danish. Thus being a year being the better option as you will fully understand the language.

I have not been on exchange yet but i hope to next year for a year.

From the information evenings most exchanges are never what you expect and it's normal to be scared - but that is part of the thrill so they say.

Try these links for exchange :

  4. I would recommend that you spend as much time abroad as you're able to. HOWEVER, keep in mind that Denmark is very expensive. Their currency is even stronger than the euro. Make sure you plan your budget well and save money on travel with http://www.studentuniverse.com/

  5. Denmark is a nice country, but the culture seem very different here from the US. Take it from an ethnic dane that has relatives in both countries - Danes (often) come off a bit impolite and pushy -Sorry for that, but we're not all that bad.

;-) I think to get a feeling of Denmark would take a year. - But maybe it's possible for you to choose 6 months and then prolong it once you get here?? Just a suggestion! Greetings from Denmark

Oh, and about being scared not to like it - if you have any specific anxieties (?spelled) - ask away.
