  1. Atm's, money exchangers and banks are all good ways to  exchange or withdraw Thai Baht. Most of the money exchanges are run by the banks here, but the rate can vary slightly from bank to bank, the rates are always displayed at currency exchanges and banks, so check around. Atm's are good to use as well and depending on service charges your bank imposes can offer a good rate of exchange, it's a good idea to only use your atm card at banks that are open during the day, just in case the machine eats your card, which can happen. You might want to change some money at the airport here to pay for taxis, food, beer etc. until you can exchange money at a bank in town which has slightly better rates than at the airport. The current rate is about $1.00AUD=31.55THB at a bank, so 2000 baht is about $63 AUD, you might want to carry a bit more to save some trips to the bank and because 2000 baht doesn't go nearly as far as it used to. The most common denominations are 1,000, 500, 100, 50 and 20 baht notes, 1, 2, 5 and 10 baht coins are common.  Have fun.

  2. In America, at least, our banks can exchange currencies, and vice versa. Go to your local bank to see if you can exchange currency there.

  3. 2000 THB is about 80-90 aussie $

  4. carry less than 5000 baht on you, and use an ATM to withdraw the money.

After fees and finance charges, it is actually cheaper to exchange money at a money exchange counter, but I would not recommend having that type of cash on you.

  5. If your staying in Bangkok or Pattaya there are kiosks everywhere to change money and they accept AUD.  If your out in the sticks just go into any bank and they'll exchange money for you.  They usually have a board with the current rates,

or you can check at XE.com. Currently about 32 Baht to 1AUD or about 62.50 AUD will get you about 2000Baht (you get a better rate exchanging 100).

  6. Best to use your ATM card, and take some dollars with you also.  Many places in Bangkok to exchange dollars.  As for your ATM card be sure to inform your bank your going overseas so they don't lock your card.

  7. Go with the ATM if your bank service fee is reasonable.
