Exchange of dollars?

i want to buy something online, but the website offers buyin in euro or dollars. (i use euro in ireland )

now when i convert the amount of dollars into euro using google, it works out about 20 euro cheaper to buy them that way, as opposed to buying them in euro in the first place.

just wondering, if i buy them through dollars, will i be charged an extra rate because of the conversion, or will i actually still save this money?

  1. You should still make a saving by ordering in dollars. The amount will just be converted to Euros by your bank/card provider (plus a small fee - around 0.45%) and deducted from your account. It's nice to see people get good deals on the currency fluctuations.

  2. If you have an international credit card, even if you buy in dollars, there will be a conversion fee charged to your card.

Check with your bank on what that fee is and do the math.
