  1. Well, what I did was I searched for foreign exchange programs. The best ones I found were AYUSA and YFU. http://www.intraxstudyabroad.com/japan

    http://www.yfu-usa.org/

When I had questions, I called the organizations. I'm going to meet with my counselor this week to talk about my classes and transcript.

But other pople say you should talk to you school counselor first.

  2. If an exchange program doesn't work for you there is JCMU (Japanese center for Michigan Universities) is program where you can learn Japanese in the right environment, Japan. Also get to see and mingle with the locals, join University Clubs like Judo, and have a host family.

You don't have to go to a Michigan college ( had people from Califorina and ever Canada when I attended).

There is more info at any of the links in the "Source" and really check out the Youtube site.

  3. Simply do some research about exchange programs from the US to Japan I'm from australia but i went on exchange to Japan and it was so good! Find out as much as you can about each organisation and work from there.

  4. OK, first thing is you need to HURRY!

Applications for the next school year are closing for many programs and already closed for some. If you only wish to do second semester, you may be a little better off.

You can find a list of all exchange programs certified to operate in the U.S. at www.csiet.org. You should also check with your school counselor for a recommendation. An organization is only as good as its local representative. AFS, Aspect, Rotary and YFU tend to be reliable most everywhere.

Here is a site on the experience in general: http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/

    Good luck!
