Hi, My name is Sydney and I am 14 - almost 15. For years I have been learning japanese and I really want to go on an exchange program to Japan. I am worried though because I am 5'6'' - 5'7'' and It might be alittle ackward because japanese girls are short. Will it be hard for me to make firends? Also will I be able to shop there? Im not big. I take a size 6 pants and a size 7 shoe. Can you tell me anything helpful that might help me while im there? Thank you for your help.

  1. Your size has nothing whatsoever to do with making friends.

As long as you respect the country's laws and customs, and do not behave as an spoiled-rotten American and keep an open mind about a new culture, you will have a wonderful time as well as make many friends.

By the way, Japan has become quite used to foreigners; so much so in fact, that now one can buy clothing in Western sizes. (I bought a pair of socks at a discount store in May 2008, and I wear size 10 shoes).
