Exchange student program?

Question

How does it work? im a sophomore in highschool. do i go to like an angency? or do i do it through my school? can i go for just a few months? can i pick where i go? do i get options for a family?

i know of this one program it's called intrax...although you don't actually like trade places with another student you can spend a semester in the country of your choice or u can spend a month with a host family in the summer
