I bought a digital camera in Jan 2008 but I noticed at Costco.com that they have a really nice Nikon SLR camera on sale. Will Costco let me exchange my camera for one that is like $300 more?

  1. They may if you have everything that came with the camera including the box, have your receipt and are nice ... Just tell them that the camera you have did not live up to the advertising and will not do what you want it to do.  If you live in a state like Calif, they may be bound to exchange it.

  2. I think you're past the exchange period.  Here's a quote from the Costco.com website.

"Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. Exceptions: Televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund."

Exchanges are usually made for defective merchandise, not because of wanting something else.  That leaves a vendor like Costco with a 6 month old used camera that can't be sold and can't be sent back to the manufacturer.

If you really want to upgrade, consider selling your camera and then buying the dslr of your dreams.

  3. Costco never exchanges, they only offer refunds.  They have a 90 day return policy on cameras.  So, I agree with a previous answer that you should sell this camera on ebay, or somewhere, and buy a new one.  You can't exchange it.
