Exciting Quarter-finals in progress - 2011 World Snooker Championship
The quarter-final matches of the 2011 World Snooker Championship are underway at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
Both matches have reached the mid-session interval break and an overview of the frames played is given below.
Judd Trump versus Graeme Dott (Table 1)
Bristolian Ace, Judd Trump, has put a shock on the cards as he is leading the former 2006 World Champion, Graeme Dott, by a frame score of 3-1.
The opening two frames of the match were quite scrappy and there was a bout of safety play seen among the players. Twenty-one-year-old, Trump, then stepped up his game, surging into a 2-0 lead. The following two frames between the players were quite dramatic.
In the third frame, Dott had a golden chance to reduce the deficit before he broke down on a tricky red and gifted a chance to his opponent. Trump, who was trailing the frame 52-23, cleared the table superbly with a run of 38, to further extend his lead
3-0.
A similar story was seen in the fourth frame, as this time Trump was on the brink of clinching the frame before he lost control of his emotions, breaking down on 68. Graeme Dott, who was shell-shocked after losing the third frame, then finally managed in
breaking his duck.
Mark Williams versus Mark Allen (Table 2)
Former Two-time World Champion, Mark J Williams is leading the Pistol, Mark Allen, on table two with the same score-line.
The opening frame between these two players was also cagey. Both players dug deep into the safety battle before Williams forced a chance from his opponent, to claim the frame 1-0. Allen had a frame-winning chance in the second but he lost his nerves, breaking
down on 51 and when the chance presented itself, Williams cleared the table very efficiently to lead 2-0.
Though World Number eleven, Allen, bounced back with a classy break of 78 in the third frame to reduce the deficit at 3-1, he lost the fourth again, as the World Number two, Williams, restored his two frames lead with a dazzling break of 125.
