Exciting victories and race upsets all in one exciting, action-packed night at Nottingham
Nottingham hosted some exciting races yesterday, on 2nd April, 2012. Some of the races went as they were predicted whereas others had unexpected results.
Romeo Patrol triumphed in the Grade OR Caffreys Grand Prix Trial Stakes, which took place at 19:48 GMT. He raced as a favourite with the odds of 4 to 7. The son of Collision, out of Fabulous Airport, bolted through the track and defeated, Imperial Boy, by
1 ¼ lengths.
In the Grade OR Betfred.com Sprint Trophy – Heat 1, Gold Finch stole the show. The race was held at Nottingham yesterday at 20:36 GMT, and covered a distance of 305 metres. The daughter of Tyrur Lomu, out of Sophies Spice, raced with odds of 11 to 4, and
left the competition behind.
The Phil Broome trained b***h demonstrated her true skill as she defeated, Glengall Flash, by 1 length in 18.23 seconds, whereas race favourite, Bowtime Honcho, finished third.
Tictac Diamond aced the Grade OR Betfred.com Sprint Trophy – Heat 3 yesterday which was held at 21:07 GMT. Trained by Trevor Jameson, the son of Kiowa Sweet Trey out of Ardaghs Jodie, clocked in the best time of the night, completing the 305 metre track
in 18.10 seconds.
He defeated race favourite Minglers Jaguar by ½ a length. Tictac Diamond was the front runner as he led the race, setting the pace of the race. Despite a slow start, High Noon finished third in 18.15 seconds.
Head Iton Eoin smashed through the competition, and bagged a victory in the Grade OR Magners Standard Trophy – Final. He caused a major race upset as his odds of winning were calculated as 12 to 1.
Trained by Pat Rosney, the son of Hondo Black, out of Smooth And Soft, exhibited an early pace and was in the lead throughout. He stole the show as he covered the 500 metre track in an impressive time of 30.31 seconds.
The black hound finished 3 lengths ahead of evening’s favourite Sawpit Sensation. The D. Hunt trained hound baulked first, and could not regain his composure. He finished the race in 30.55 seconds.
Bakari and Cavecourt Derry both landed at third in a dead-heat, covering the distance in 30.67 seconds.
