Usually a running mate is chosen from the other side of the country. Since he is from the northeast or midwest they will look for a running mate from the south or southwest. This is the best way to spread out to the voters. No one want a single area presidancy. They like a balanced ticket. However the democratic party is so torn up right now from the Hilary escapade one never knows what they are going to do.

John Edwards...he's smart, charismatic and he might be able to woo the rednecks that don't want a black man in the Oval Office.

He's probably going to choose Richardson.  I think the DNC has a bet to see how bad they can lose in Nov.
