Question:

Excluding the ex-WWE'ers, would you consider TNA's roster similar to WCW in the early 90's?

Considering WCW had a lot of young talent before becoming superstars in WWF..like Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, Ron Simmons, Dustin Rhodes, Brian Pillman...etc...

TNA has a lot of wrestlers that might be the same...

sidenote..if you look at WCW's roster back then now that we know what those wrestlers became..they had a sh*t load of talent...

  1. A bit early for me to make that comparision, besides a few, most of TNA young talent is in the X-divison, so it will take time to see if they receive huge pushes later in their career. I think Petey Williams has the tools, and Robert Roode is a future champion. I really think they need a upper-mid card title to help guys get over to main event status.

*Please give the guy who said "WCW and TNA both suck" the BA, because he is so smart and funny. HA HA HA, I just can't stop laughing at his hilariousness, too funny.........

  2. They also had Triple H.  But it's kinda hard to determine who would become big and who wouldn't.  Everyone you mentioned, minus Ron Simmons and Cactus Jack were flukes.  Goldust, Austin, and Triple H all sucked for a while in the WWE and then suddenly they blew up.

And WCW still had lots of talent despite losing them.   Scott Steiner, Goldberg, Booker, Jarrett, etc.

I see TNA being the same way.  I see Lance Hoyt and Hernadez and maybe even Roode going to the WWE and being huge without a shadow of a doubt, but they'll still have talent like AJ, Joe, Dutt, etc.

So yeah, there are roster similarities I guess, if you look at it that way, but the question is kinda vague.

  3. The X Division is nothing like the WCW CW division. The CW division had a weight limit. Yes, the majority of wrestlers in the X Division are CWs, but the X Division is closer to a hardcore division than a CW division. I mean, Samoa Joe was a champ, and I hardly consider him a CW.

  4. They are the same in that they both had a lot of talent that they never utilized to the fullest potential. Look at the matches that people like Jericho and Mysterio were put in in WCW for years to see why. The WCW hyped their older less talented stars who were already over with the fans instead of building up younger talent. Ultimately that led to the demise of the WCW.

  5. A little bit. TNA is the spin off to WCW. X-Division is the same concept as the Cruiserweight division. I think TNA is loaded with potential superstars. It just takes time for people to get familiar with them all.

I think Chris Harris, Ron Killings and Kaz should have stayed with TNA.

They were becoming superstars. Chris Harris as Braden Walker is barely getting any air time on ECW.

I think TNA is becoming a mixture of WCW, ECW and itself.

  6. WCW is like TNA in one way. They both suck.

  7. If you taje away the ex-WWE'ers there really isn't much left in terms of quality (Not that the ex WWE scrubs currently in TNA have much talent, individually or collectively) or numbers.
